I always wanted to go to the Caribbean, so I decided, based on the information that my son gave me, he was already there before, to choose Curacao.
My wife and I booked in September 2018 a room with ocean view in the Papagayo Beach Hotel.

We rented a car to get to the hotel. It was a half an hours drive to get there.

When we arrived at the hotel lobby, the staff was  friendly and very obliging. Our room was located in one of the detached buildings with lateral ocean view on the top floor.

The room also had a huge balcony from which one could watch every day a beautiful sunset.

~ Here now the room review, the less good first. ~

  • - Our room was under the roof, and on this, the air conditioner was installed, that made sometimes a lot of noise.
    It was so loud that we couldn't sleep. We complained at the reception, and the next day the issue was solved, but 2 days later it started again.
    Again we complained, and the next day locals showed up to fix the problem, but not for long!
    The management suggested us, to change the room, but this one was in the basement and had no sea view, so we stayed in our room! The last 2 days we slept with earplugs.
  • + The room was often cleaned, and we got regularly new towels. The cleaning staff was very friendly.
    It was a fridge in the room that we could use for our purchases and every day we got two new Nespresso taps for the coffee machine.
    On the balcony, there was a table and chairs so that we could have breakfast.

Near the lobby is a chill zone, and a little bit further a supermarket and the sports& health club.

  • The supermarket opened every day at 8:00 am and covered all our needs. In the supermarket, there is also an ATM machine where you can withdraw money. I had problems to withdraw money with my card, so I went a little bit further to the Zanzibar, there is another ATM who worked fine for me.
  • The hotel guest can use the sports& health club for free. At the reception, you get a ticket and a towel for the club.

~Beach, restaurant and bar review.~

The hotel has a wonderful beach promenade with two swimming pools. There is no fee for the use of the sunbeds for all guests staying at the hotel.

For the sunbeds in front of the restaurant Zest-Mediterranean, you must pay e fee! The food and the drinks in the zest restaurant are very good, and the staff is very friendly. Everywhere credit card is accepted or cash ( dollar or Netherlands Antillean guilder (also called the florin).

For a good breakfast, you can go to the Kokos, who is at the end of the beach promenade, and for meat lovers, I can suggest the restaurant tinto, near the Zansibar.

Curacao, the papagayo beach hotel was really worth the trip.
